Lovely long tom. Just make sure you stay away from the business end of that thing. From personal experience, IT GOES RIGHT TO THE BONE!

Yes you can you often see the in a pair swimming on the surface ever so slowly looking for prey.

Thats definitely a good way to target them. The alternative is to stick a small pilli on ganged hooks out under a float. The By-Catch is Bonito, Tailor and Salmon.

Just drifting dead bait. Works great in summer!

I caught a pair of them last year near a river mouth targeting Whiting with nippers.

gave them to the lady down the road to eat. her report was that she thought they tasted like u know what

They are quite common in Port Hacking, most around the 40 to 50cm mark, and they will take nippers from the bottom or on the retrieve.

Cut the fillets off and pan fry, similar to garfish fillets, but I prefer the garfish.
