rigga Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Gday raiders, went for an early morning fish before uni with a mate, arrived around 7am getting in on tide going down. plenty of nibbles but fish would grab on, but through persistance i managed to grab two beautiful beam going around 25-30cm with using chicken breast and parmasen cheese! does anyone have tips to get hooks out of fish when they are deep in there mouth?
rjc123 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Get some long nose pliers or just cut the line as close to the hook as possible
rigga Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 If your eating the fish they to rip it out as gently as possible and if your realizing just cut the line as close to the mouth as possible Thanks for the quick reply, thats hat i did cut the line as short as possible, but everything i catch i release i just fish for fun and would rather them grow and have plenty of babies!

Crush the barbs on the hook or buy a plastic hook disgorger (couple of dollars if that) Cheers Blood Knot
dobson_c Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Maybe give circle hooks a go too. Particularly if you want to release all your catch. Any one recommend a good circle for bream?
bergo Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Not a bad fish for a tard! We should go for a fish one day.

ryanm Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 You can get 1/0 circle hooks. They generally hook up in the corner of the mouth. Otherwise just cut them off before doing too much damage.
Pafisho08 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Hi All Just a quick note on circle hooks .I have found the Black Magic KL 1/0 excellent on the Bream as most hookups are in the corner of the mouth & easy to remove . Regards Bob
shak4g63 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Hi raiders, I have to agree black magic kl1/0 circle hooks snell tied onto your leader works great on bream, I've even had success on the beach with these using green banana prawn peeled and cut to small peices leaving the point exposed so it finds the fishes mouth.
