I know that this is a rather touchy subject but would you mind telling me where you managed to get your green weed? All the normal places I get it from have been quite barren of late. Very little at Kurnell and there was none in Kelso Park last time I looked.

Seacow,

this is the first time in over 20 years i have seen such a shortage of greenweed in the drains and creeks in the Sydney area, reminds me of whe nI was wee tacker of 10 and all dad could get was cabbage off the rocks, I think your either going to have to travel a lot to find some or use cabbage which they are not to fond of in the rivers as a general rule.

The old man bit the bullet and made his way down to some of the drains at Homebush not far from where he works. He got some but he said it was pretty ordinary and on the stinky side. Should have taken the weed from Terrigal when I was up there last week. Very light green and stringy but better than nothing. Either that or just used the cabbage and fished in the harbour.

When there is no weed in the rivers, I 've fished for blackfish using squirt worms. Problem is that everything eats squirt worms.

I have been fishing Illawong in georges River for darkies, Tuesday and Wednesday this week catching heaps of 20-24 cm fish, however, I finally woke up on Wednesday the bigger fish were out deeper and wider away from my burley trail, resulting in me catching half a dozen 32-34 cm late on the slack tide just before dark. I Fished Clark Park at Woolwich today for 2 x 34 cm blackfish, big females full of row both released, fishing was very slow 2 hours between bites. I was using Botany weed where others who were fishing for blackfish caught half a dozen (all over 32 cm) using cabbage or weed from Stanwell Park.

Hi

In the last 3 weeks I've made about 10 short trips (1-2 hrs)chasing blackies over the different tides and time of day in the Georges. Have managed 1 or 2 fish in the thirties each trip, and reasonable number of throw backs. Have keep trying because this time last year they were biting well.

On monday managed 4 fish 30 cm and 20 throwbacks around 25cm. Yesterday fished 4-530 pm, produced 6 fish mid thirties plus some throwbacks.

So with a bit of luck I think the fish may have arrived.

Yes weed is hard to find I have a bit of good weed and use freshwater weed out of an ornamental pond to supplement it.

Weather not looking good next couple of days so will probably try again sunday.
