Luringbream Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 (edited) Hey guys, Its been a long time since i've posted a report. So here goes.. Had an early start, with the intentions of stocking up on squid then bottom bashing browns for blue eye. Squid were no problem but received info that the current was roaring out there, so the trip to browns was called off. Armed with plenty of bait, half a dozen squid were stripped/live baited and converted into several kings between 71-80cm at one of the wrecks at south head, whilst the others were kept for a feed and bait for future bottoms bashing and big jew sessions! We then tried chasing some snapper and flathead on a few of the marks I have within a few km of the heads, but all I could find were undersize fish everywhere!! Aren’t there any productive snapper or flathead spots around the heads?!! Does one always have to travel to Long Reef or The Hump to get a decent feed of snapper! We also managed a few good sized chinnaman leatherjacket and a massive red rock cod! DAN Edited May 20, 2012 by Luringbream

How many were fishing bag limit is twenty if you were on your own Hi mate, thanks for your concern. Two of us were fishing, well one and a half, my mate took comfort in the cabin of the boat as it was 'too cold'. Had their been more people, we would have kept going
marcel haber Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Great catch mate - well done . Reading your post - are you saying you caucht these squid at night or before sunrise? what is your set up -tied to a rod or are u using a paternoster style rig for jigging in deeper depths? If at night what tecnique are you using and do you use a light source to attract the squid to the boat? Twin 1
GregL Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Nah no jews. Had a few squid each in the well from over the other side of the harbour. Ours were on pink or orange Yamishita's in 2.5's over shallow kelp beds. A few flatties each was about it fo us. G
