Sunday Blackie Madness

Our plan for the day was Luderick-Angler (Royce) & myself to hit the

piers down at Walsh Bay. But due to a marathon event being run & roads

were closed we decided to head up river. Royce had brought along his fly

rod with him & was aiming to land a record fish on his weed fly. We arrived

at our chosen spot & on my first drift got slammed using cabbage, after a

short fight he was in the bag. Threw in some burly & Royce then started

to get hits on his fly but no hookups. The fly was trimmed abit to shorten

the tail, more burly goes in & on his next drift Royce gets hit & he was on.

After a good fight he was also in the bag. Royce still had hopes of landing

that record fish & after a few drifts gets nailed hard & this was a good

fish & we both thought here comes a record fish. After a top battle he was

landed but went shy of the record measuring 39cm. In all we ended up with

9 good fish. 2 were dropped my myself & Royce another 3 one which I reckon

would have been over the 40cm mark.

Good session, fellas. Spoke with Royce the following day, and we compared notes. You guys did much better than me. They have been far and few between on the ocean rocks on the southside. Might have to lower my standards and go harbour wharf fishing..... just kidding. They look like nice fish.
