Condorman Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Firstly a quick thanks to Huetts for looking after my new (old boat)purchase by getting my 1994 Johnson 40hp (tiller steer) into working order. Took her for a run up to twin beaches on Saturday and she is going good. Secondly, the old prop has a chunk out of it and I am wanting to replace it. Currently running a 12 1/4 x 15 prop on a 4m Pongrass Husky. Engine has LZ Hyrdrofoil fins on it at the moment and she gets on the plane easily. Wanting to retire the prop as a spare (as one blade is shorter). Would like to get a bit more speed if I could but am uncertain as to whether or not I should go for a bigger pitch. Any thoughts on this appreicated. Cheers....Condor. Edited May 22, 2012 by Condorman
a boat Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Hi Condor, no problem mate and yes she would be going better now than when she came in. I doubt that little guy could turn a larger prop on that hull and fitting a new alloy prop would offer better performance straight away over that damaged prop. As I mentioned a SST prop will take you to another level of performance but they just cost about 3 times more than an alloy even with the Raider discount. Save your pennies and for $185 you can get a new alloy prop that is in alot better shape than the current prop and it will offer better performance. Cheers, Huey.
