adzzy Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Hi all A few of us are heading to Merimbula this week for 4 days fishing out wide, has anyone heard any good reports of late for the area?
Secho Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Also - did anyone hear of any news from the Canberra comp at Bermi last weekend? Marty
Danny no fish Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Hi buddy i live in Narooma and at this stage out wide is proving fruitless, comp over weekend wasnt anything to get to excited about fish wise, but in saying this any day now things can change, fingers crossed...
Dfishin Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 I was down at Bermi for a week and a half. just got home. I didnt fish the comp but can give a bit of report on it. Saturday was the bast day. Alot of Albercore were caught in excess of 150 tagged and captured i beleive. Saturday saw the biggest yellowfin caught for the comp which went 63kg and i also saw a 40kg model and a respectable number of smaller yf caught on sat. I did fish out wide on saturday trolling and cubing for one bite on a live bait. Sunday was a bit slower with a few more albercore and smaller bluefin landed. Monday was quieter again with not much to report. A few sharks were landed throughout the weekend too. As i said i didnt fish the comp but did fish everyday at bermi for a week and a half so i did see alot of these fish at the cleaning tables. On the friday night before the comp started a vessel caught and weighed in a Broadbill at the bermi bait and tackle, although this vessel was fishing out of Narooma and another vessel that night caught a 60 kg yf. My report from my actual catches will be up soon in general fishing area. Hope this helps. The talk down there is its not quite firing yet. It does sound like alot of fish were caught but there was in excess of 100 boats each day out and alot came home with zero.
Bentstik Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 In all 107 boats and 375 anglers weighed 8 yellowfin tuna, 5 southern bluefin tuna, 1 mako shark and 1 blue shark. In the tag and release categories they tagged: 3 yellowfin tuna 109 albacore 12 southern bluefin tuna 9 mako sharks 6 blue sharks and the juniors and small fry tagged 19 striped tuna Cheers
adzzy Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Thanks for the reports guys but i have just heard from a local that this weekend is looking terrible with chances of rain 30kn winds and 6m swells looks like the will be happy though
davidteasel Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Hi Mate i fished the bermi comp, we caught that 40kg yellow fin on saturday and the only other two yellow fin caught were the 58.5kg and the 63kg there were a few blue fin caught, we got one 30.4kg on sunday, but considering there was over a 100 boat, there wasnt much caught. Good luck (plenty of albacore)
Danielsan Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Guys - got back from Bermi Sunday arvo. We managed more than 16+ Southern Blues ranging from 25-40kgs. No fin despite our efforts. there were football fields of fish around the boat. all south of bermi
