FranticD Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Hi Mate, Well when i use floats like that, its usually when i am fishing from rocks. I can catch, tailors, salmons and other types of fish. basically, i would have my line... attached to a swivel. then i would have another amount of line attached to the other end of the swivel.. slide the line through the float... and then through a sinker... then attach another swivel.. then i would have more line attached to teh other end of the swivel running to my ganged hooks. does this sound about right guys? Or would you suggest another way of doing this>?

The Incredible Hull Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 (edited) This is what I normally use off the rocks Main braid line > 3m mono (little longer than the length of your rod) > adjustable rubber float stopper or stopper knot (needs to be small enough to glide through your rod guides) > bead > float > ball sinker > optional shock absorb soft bead > swivel > 1m leader > hook This will allow you to adjust the depth from 1 to 4 metres. I used to have a stopper as well, but it didn't hold for me. I.e. when I hooked up on a nice fish and the float sinks, the stopper would move up. By the time I got the fish up, I was struggling to wind my main line up due to the float being so far up the line! So instead now I use a swivel... So main line mono about 25lb (recommended for rock fishing as opposed to braid), swivel, 20cm of 25bl mono, slide on float with red\orange side up, sinker, swivel, 20-30lb FC leader and 3/0 - 4/0 gangs. Works if the fish are around Edited May 25, 2012 by The Incredible Hull
