Spooooled Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 this probably seems like a stupid question, but i just wanted to know whats better to use when fishing with bait? does a graphite rod have a better hookup rate or does a fiberglass? ive always thought graphite is for lures and fiberglass is for bait is that right?

I use my graphite for lures and bait and i haven't had a problem.
boattart Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Just to throw another option. I recently bought several new outfits to fish plastics and bait. For the bait rods, and also because they would used by the kids as well, I went with composite rods with graphite butt sections and glass tips. There are several types in various price ranges available but the soft tip action suits bait fishing and the graphite gives them plenty of grunt.
Spooooled Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 thanks for that, just wanted to know if the fibreglass rods will increase your hookup rates when using bait because of the flexibility it has?

Good question. I always wondered this myself. And Im still not sure what is better. I do know that you can definitly feel and detect bites better with graphite. But then I reckon the more better feel you have, the better feel a timid fish has of feeling your presence aswell.
