June 1965 Amateur fishermen are organising a massive protest in a bid to have Botany Bay closed to professional fishermen. Hurstville retailer Dan Daly, who is organising the protest, said they have tried to ban professional fishermen from the bay before, but this time they had more support. What fish were in the bay should be left for amateurs, he said. ......... Dan Daly was 37 years ahead of his time.
