elferoz777
Decided after getting move out of Port Kembla that I would hit up Stanwell Park this evening. After a couple of hours I hooked up 3 sambos pretty close to the shore. Trust old paternoster and slated pillies done the trick. i also got to test out my new $ 20 online shop special... a 15 ft surf rod. It actually performed quite good for the cost. The conditions overall were not great but at least I beat my PB for most salmon in one outing. They might not taste the best but I see this as good training for when the Bonito are back..... Might try fish cakes

J Hooked
Great catch mate. As long as you're fishing and catching, that's what counts.

elferoz777
Nice catch, where they off the beach? They were all of the beach. I had two lines going one from my el cheapo 15 ft and the other from my almost as cheap 10 ft rod. All of them were caught in the gutter (thanks to the guys the other night for showing my how to best identify this)which was only about 20mtrs of shore. I was casting out as far as possible and getting nothing. As soon as I brought it in I was hooking up straight away. I am going to try a different rig next time in prep for better fish this summer

If I can ever master the art of catching yakka, slimies or squid I think I may just have a chance at catching a jewie. ATM salted pillies is all I use. Tried getting live bait yesterday morning at Wollongong harbour but had no luck.

My mate caught a 18kg jewie on pilchard last winter at that spot ...just got to be there at the spot at the right time...
