elferoz777 Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Hi, A few times now of the rocks in the Bulli/Woonona area I have caught sharks that using beach worms. I fish off the rocks over the reefs and in one minute these critters are hooked up. Description: Size: Caught varied sizes between 80 cms and 1.2 meters Colour: Greyish in colour Body type: They resemble an off coloured port jackson shark with smaller fins not sure if they are wobigongs either bit the dont have all the frilly bits wobis have...They do however have two whisker like things on their face that look almost like theeth(similar to a cat fish) Just want to know what these could be?...People say sharks make nice meals but I always release these in case they are protected.
brettmann86 Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) Pretty hard without a photo but one standing question I can throw up does the bark when ur handling them?? If so I'm pretty confident it's a form of swell shark fairly common and they taste like crap that's fermented Edited June 10, 2012 by brettmann
Jewhunter Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 I've always called them dog sharks. Used to catch them after a big sea when chasing Jew. Blind & swell shark could be another name for them. Cheers, Grant
