trentarena89 Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Hey guys, Heading down to Currarong in the last week of June to do some Land Based fishing. I'm bringing the old man with me and would like to give us the best chance of hooking some quality fish. I've never fished Beecroft - the last time I went down there it was 4+m swells - So I'm wondering what species have been active down there at this time of the year. We will be live baiting with squid/yakkas and chucking some poppers/stickbaits out. Any info would be appreciated. Trent
JimT Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Use to get nice snapper off Beecroft Head on cubes of salted tuna 5/0 hook and 4oz snapper lead......as far out as you can. Live baiting seen kingies and tuna depending on the warm/cold currents

CarlRak Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Not sure how deep it is but the bottom is very snaggy. I had a crack at it about a year ago using snapper lead on a paternoster rig. Gave up on putting baits to the bottom quickly as I kept losing my rigs. Maybe try running your sinker on a lighter breaking strain line so that if you get snagged it's only the weight you lose rather than the whole rig.

Nothing worse than loosing rig after rig
JimT Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 ....deep.... from memory after casting would give the rig a good thirty seconds of sink time before taking up slack Good Luck Jim. ps lets us know what the track is like out to the spot now...
