Catchin Jack
As all these changes come in for fishing, has anyone noticed the BIG changes being put forward for Workcover? This is way more important than fishing imho. As an example, you would no longer be covered going to and from work, this includes the volunteers of the NSW RFS and a lot of them are now saying they will no longer man fire trucks which means lives and property at risk. After so many weeks off on compo the insurance companies will now stop paying you and you're on your own. SHAME SHAME SHAME to the government. LeoB
G'day, This is an extremely disturbing cost cutting measure that i have been watching closely. I was run over on a pedestrian crossing by a speeding driver, about 8 years ago on the way to work as a first year apprentice. I've done all the right things, office work, light duties, extensive rehab and so far 6 major operations not including an imminent spinal fusion. Pretty good for before 26. Currently I can't work due to my back, have been on gradually stronger and stronger pain killers for the whole time and still get treated like a criminal by the insurance companies, and supposedly 'independent' doctors. I currently get paid bellow minimum wage as I've been off work for over 6 months, how I could have had less time off over the years I don't know. 2 years ago I had the option of moving back to my parents or the streets. I can still barely afford to live, but luckily have a great group of friends and family which is the only thing keeping me alive. Under the changes I worry that I may loose those weekly payments, and have my medical expenses 'capped' (already huge), and be forced onto the dole. I've done nothing wrong, and now to make the bottom line look better the state government seems hell bent on getting these changes through. Please get behind this one as I never planned on this happening, and you never know what's around the corner. And thanks for nothing Barry... Cheers Leo

hottyscotty
I'm pretty sure travelling to another work site from your main workplace is covered. Need to check that though. Its only travelling from home to your main work place is not covered anymore. This was cleared up at work last year because it happened to a colleague and she wasn't able to make a claim. Also, you can only make a claim once you step foot inside the work place. You could be just one step away and that won't count. So just a tip, (touch wood) if something does happen and its borderline. Make sure you mention it was inside.

By the way user1829 the moderator here was not "ranting" he was expressing an opinion and starting a conversation. We are not here to provide all the info on changes to legislation!
