Hi guys

was fortunate enough to be invited for a fish from a charter boat last night.

So at 5am this morning we set out somewhere off Bellambi (few kms out near the big ships waiting to dock in Port).

Was a pretty quiet morning all in all, even the regulars were commenting on how the trip was very quiet compared to normal.

None the less we eventually hit a spot and the snapper piled in.

After I managed to stop unloading my stomach contents into the drink I managed double hooked two , then one larger one followed by a flathead.

Flathead = 51 cms

largest snapper = 40cms

Must admit I was a bit skeptical about fishing from the boat, namely because this was my first time but the guys on board gave me some good advice and it paid of with some fish.

To sum up it was a great morning with great people despite the cold and rain and the fact that I get severely sea sick (never knew I was one for sea sickness).

Nice work mate. Shame about the sea sickness I copped it for he first time a few months ago (snapper fishing as well) after 10 years on the water including plenty in horrific conditions.

Nice snapper.

Are boats allowed to get close to those docked ships ? How far were you guys.

I believe the cold air breeze contributes to the sea sickness, for me anyways :) in summer never affects me no matter how big the swell is.

Not sure how close you are meant to be to the ships but we were not right underneath them.

Regarding the charter I am not sure how you get into them...Id imagine just call and ask..

I work mate of mine had a mate pull out so I got a last minute invite.

We were expecting 10 but only 7 showed up so there is always room for a ring in.

If a fair few of us wanted to have a plug I think we could get a good deal.

I cant remember the name of the vessel but its sounds Maori or other Polynesian and begins with 'H'.

I think my sea sickness was helped along by the massive Mexican feast I ate the night before.

My stomach was tanked and I was feeling shabby after the meal due to the amount I consumed.
