rjc123 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Yeh mate, definitely a shovelnose. They go hard when they get bigger. Often mistake the biggens for big jews or bull sharks.

matt84 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 yes on 6kg line lol Was funny i had a lady abuse me for taking it out of the water for a picture, and then abused me when i released it were people were swimming, cause shovel noses are man eater lol Yer have caught a few big one's up in qld. never seen another one that big down this far south though
rjc123 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Thats right mate. They get big up north. Only ever seen small shovelnose to a max of 1m in NSW. I'm sure there are some bigger ones though! One time up in noosa i caught 3 over 130cm in one day on live mullet. Biggest was 163 from memory!

Haha

sharknett Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Got a pretty big shovelnose myself years ago just ouside the river in Cairns. Nearly as long as me and I'm 191cm. Unfortunmately in the pre digital camera era and I no longer own a scanner.
