craigbutcher
Hi Guys, heading down Lake Conjola this weekend for a bucks and I am hoping to pump some nippers for whiting off the beach / lake. Does anybody know if lake Conjola holds good numbers of nippers? If so, where about? Thanks for your kind assistance! Regards Craig

Does anybody know if lake Conjola holds good numbers of nippers? If so, where about? Thanks for your kind assistance! Regards Craig shoot poddy trapper a pm - he has a holiday house down there and fishes the lake quite often. I have been down there once and from memory there were heaps of nippers. The lake if quite shallow, especially towards the entrance, and there were nipper beds everywhere!
brendong
If you have a boat the sandbar before the drop off known as the steps which is towards the western end of the lake where the Caravan park is. If on foot go to the cunjerong boat ramp on lake conjola and walk back to the entrance to lake berrenger.Opposite the island on the northern shore there are nippers. There is a bush track as well down to it but you need fwd for clearance to get over the ruts. Ditto Rads on the steps nippers, can't comment on the Manyana sided for nippers, I've never pumped over there. Probably easier to trap some poddy mullet from shore than locate nippers if you don't have a boat. out the front of the post office / shop on the flats, near the boat ramp about 250m to the west of the shop and southern side of the road bridge should see you finding some fairly quickly. I've struggled on the whitting this time of year. I usually fish plastics anyway but I've pumped them for my misses in the past and they haven't been touched, you will see heaps but I found them hard to catch. Haven't tried for them off the beach. Try casting metals off the beach or even ganging some pillies for sambo and tailor off the beach is probably well worthwhile.....usually there are good gutters down the bush track Firestation. I've caught sambo's on plastics off the beach too....good fun. Hope you get a few fish mate....let us know...
cheap charlie
talking about Conjola, I was fishing the Northern side of Green island out the front of Conjola a couple of weeks ago in my boat. I saw a few people walk onto the island. The northern side of the island is inset and out of the swell. The place is loaded with tailor, Snapper early morning and late afternoon plus your usual rock species, Pigs, blackies etc.. Might just be another option for you.
