Hi All,

I have a late 90's Clarke 4.9M runabout.

I was trying to find information relating to the history of the brand.

Where they a company renowned for making a good boat?

I believe they have been in Business for 40 years?

Where are they located?

Really I would be interested in any information you might know about them..

Hi, Clark are good honest alloy boats and we sold them back in the day when they were made by Mayfairs Marine with their sister boat being Seahunter. That age will most likely be a Mayfairs built one so does it still have the compliance plate. To answer your question, yes they made good boats and I would rather a Clark than some other brands. They have being made in QLD and that has been for a long time.

Cheers,

Huey.

Thanks for the Reply,

Some information I received suggests the brand has changed hands a few times over the years. I was lead to believe that Stessl bought out Mayfairs as Mayfairs where looking to exit the boat builing game. 12 - 18 months latter Stessl where in a bad position and took a similar time frame to get back on track. Not long after this Haines marine was looking to secure a Transom for their Queensland Suzuki outboat distributorship and given Stessl's recent turbulent times they where Happy to take on the contract to supply boats.

Clark's website when stipulating warranty terms notes their warranty Liability to their (OUR)boats. It goes on to mention 2010 which suggests the company changed hands at that point.

Huey, What period did you stock Clark if you don't mind me asking?

Right you are, Mayfairs are the manufacturer on the compliance plate.

My boat has been repainted at some stage. Is their any where else that may give clues as to what model it may be? I found a review and all the images and the description sound spot on.

Hi, we stocked them on and off for a fair few years and not since Mayfairs sold them have we really carried them. Yes, as you said they have changed hands a few times, sometimes making better boats and sometimes making worse boats, but as i said the era you have were well made Mayfair boats-Mayfair we still deal with for Redco and Tinka trailers and they are top shelf trailers too.

Cheers,

Huey.
