Hit curl curl beach today for a quick session. Missed the high tide due to a physio appointment but went anyway.

Chopped up an old block of pillies and mixed in some pellets for burly and sent out a whole pillie on gang hooks. There was a nice gutter ripping out but due to the spend of the current took a few goes to get my bait sitting where I wanted it. Kept the burly going. Turned my back on the wind (and my rod) to role a ciggie only to turn back and see my rod bucking and reel is screaming and awesome fight on a big 75cm salmon that tail walked and jumped the whole way in.

Quickly rigged another pillie and sent it out and went back to rig my jewy outfit with a fresh slab of salmon and got it in the water.

Managed 3 more salmon (all released) over the next few hours but nothing took the fillet. Going to try again at high tide tomorrow morning hopefully have some better luck.

give the northern end of the beach a go where the white steps end straight out from there you will find 4 or 5 rod holes in the rocks cast out towards south curly surf club [back of the surf break] 50 to 70mts on any tide but preferbley early morn or just before dark forsalmon tailor snapper and especially jew it is a safe spot but have to fish it more than once to get it wired

Good stuff mate on the salmon. In thinking of hitting up a beach for salmon this weekend if the weather is good. Just a question have you ever landed a Jew on a salmon fillet? I normally use salmon for shark bait but never really thaught of it as a Jew bait.

Cheers for the tip peter. Can't get on rocks at the moment cos I've recovering from a knee reconstruction. So I'm sticking with south curly pool.

I haven't landed a Jew on salmon before (only used it 3 times) but I've got one big run I called for a Jew and it came up in the dvd local knowledge fishing for south coast Jews.

I dot think its the very top bait but I think it could account for some good fish.
