Dazzaraptor Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I usualy fish botany however for a change of scenery we are taking the boat to the harbour tomorrow. I havnt fished there for ages, we would usually hang around clifton gardens, channel markers and outside and south along the cliffs. Anyone had success lately and would be kind enough to share some hot spots that are firing at the moment? Iv always got a livey out if possible and would really like to catch my first jew. Altho i would target snapper, flattys, kings that dont mind it cold, whatever! Any tips would be appreciated cheers!
rjc123 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 For your yakkas head over to balmoral island or sow n' pigs. There should be a few salmon, tailor, trevally, snapper and the odd king around atm. Sow n Pigs for trevally, bream and snapper while the heads is great for salmon and tailor. There is a channel marker located a little way off nielsen park. This would be a decent spot to have a crack with the livebaits and squid strips for big bream, salmon, snapper, trevally, tailor, jews and maybe a stray kingie! You need to burley hard to entice the fish! Good luck!
Guest hawkesbass Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 The bream in the harbour may be hard to get in the next few days as there was a bream comp on in the harbour all the usual spots have been flogged the past two days so fishing might be tough if using soft plastics or hard bodies
Dazzaraptor Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Thanks guys, Is sow and pigs the reef that pops up at low tide in between Clifton gardens and the heads?
Guest hawkesbass Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Yes it is from my experience fishes best on a runout tide anchor on the bridge side in twenty feet of water and cast lightly weighted baits back to the reef not onto it you want to get your baits to the base of the reef should all species mentioned above berley is a must aswell good luck
Dazzaraptor Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Sounds good, looks like the weather will be fine aswell. Boat should be in the water by 6 so should be fishing the rising tide for the first half of the day. Any cracker spots for squid?
