sean221 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Quick 2 hr session at peak of low tide. Was with the little one aswell which kept me busy and had me loose 2 hook ups. Used blood worms, and on last worm hooked up. Felt like a good fish and had a few decent runs taking line. Up came the fish and the whiting came in at 43 cm. Was cheering. Used a general runnin sinker rig. Size 4 mustad worm hook. My previouse record was smashed by 7 cm caught at cooks, was contemplating on whether to keep it, or not, but decided to suprise my dad again with my catch. Was talkin to a bloke that said he caught a 40 kg jewie near picnic point on a pilchard during the night 10 years ago I dno whether to believe it or not, but was a nice bloke to talk to. Thanks for reading guys! Sean221 Pics will be added soon.

There are a few locals who consistantly get their bag limit of whiting between 40-50cm and even some monsters over a kilo.
Yowie Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 There was a 55cm whiting caught in the hacking last week. Did you see the fish measured, photographed, and was it a sand whiting or a King George whiting?

Was a sand whiting, it was also mentioned in the daily tele fishing reports. I believe it coz my Pb whiting is also 55cm, caught in lake Illawarra on a live prawn.

Chris Hey mate, I find fishing the turn of tide 2 hour before n after high n low tide is a good time. I caught this big boi 1.5 hours after low tide turn to high in the avo at around 330. I used 6 lb mainline 8 lb fc leader, running sinker rig to size 4 mustad worm hookmwith bloodworm. Imma try live prawn a go tomorrow mabe. I fished at picnic point near the boat ramp. Try use the freshest bait possible and u will get results. Im no expert but i usually catch fish in this area following thses simple rules. Im also fishing mostly with a 10 month old, so if i can do it any one can! Haha. God luck anyways.

The ramp furthur up river. Went for a morning session again on wednesday, caught 2 whiting both in 30 range and a bream in 20 25 range. Fished two hours after the peak of high tide. Saw 2 blokes in a boat fishing for black fish opposite side of river. They did pritty well too. This time i fishde in georges river national park right at the end of the driving lane.
