The day started in the lazy hours of Monday morning with a last minute weather check and a quick look at SST we made the decision to fish Northeast of Browns as there was a distinct temp break of 18.7 to 19.6 degrees over the short distance of a quarter mile, so we loaded the boat, dropped the lines and headed up the harbour.

As we rounded South Head we were greeted by a light Southwesterly and fairly calm seas so the course was set and the bow pointed east.

The afternoon was slowly turning into night when a radio broke out in a burst of screams that went something like "4 WAYHOOK UP ON BLUE FIN" so with ears pealed I waited for more info, wasn't long before the coordinates were given over channel 21 and we headed that direction.Crossing the 1000 fathoms mark north of the vessel hooked up on dusk in 18.8 degrees we put a couple of glow sticks in the head of the Scent Blazer lures and no sooner I turned my head to see a 80-100kg of southern blue fin tuna eat the short corner (Purple Frigate 24cm / 9.5in Smoker head)…

Check out the biggest fish, photos (as they are to large) and the rest of the report on:

Tight lines,

Good work Andrew. You guys did well!

We were there yesterday, went 10 miles nor east of Browns and didn't turn a reel.

The temp breaks appear to have changed a lot since Monday with fluctuations from 19 to 21 over 5 few miles between 180 - 250m.

Challenging old day after the wind started ripping :ranting2:

We estimated it for 100kgish, Measured 1.78m to the fork and 1.18m Girth!! we might be out Wed as id rather be fishing the Northerly than anything from the south.
