Hi Raiders,

Bought some Egimax yesterday, cost $29.99! Just wondering if it really works? has anyone used it and had success or noticed a difference..? how often does it need to be applied?

cheers, Joe

Hey Joe,

Definitely works. Apply a light coat every 15-20 mins or each time you swap jigs.

The number of times of I've re-coated, cast out again and immediately hooked-up is freaky. I'm a big believer.

Hey mate, thank you for the reply.. thanks for the information, I will definately have to get out there and give it a go soon!! :) .. would you recommend using glowmax at night, or the regular egimax is sufficient? Cheers!

I'm sure egimax will work fine at night, maybe just use the jigs that you have with a bit of glow to them.

I've found glowmax works reasonably well in the daytime, so i'm confident egimax would help at night, the scent may be the real attractant.

I haven't used these scents but I do use scents.

All I do is rub the jig on a pilly before casting and I have had much better strike rates.

$30 for a spray, roughly how long does the bottle last?

Scents for Squid is an interesting concept, mainly due to the fact that Squid don't have olfactory (smell'en bits) sensors like Fish or Humans. So theoretically they don't detect scents in the water, their hunting is vision based. However, they do have some form of scent sensing ability based on their candles (the long tentacles) but I believe it is touch based (or very close vicinity).

The application of the scent probably isn't attracting the Squid as such, but is turning 'lookers' into solid 'takers'. Those Squid that have been visually attracted to the jig but aren't taking it. It can be interesting to watch, the Squid touches the jig (or appears too) but then backs off. The egimax probably changes that, when the Squid touches it instead of backing off it becomes a little more interested.

It certainly can't hurt using egimax and other scents.

Cheers

i love the stuff

i can say my pb's have been caught without egimax, however

the amount of times i rock up to a metro wharf with 5 people squidding up donuts, and my egimax scented weapons hit the drink and voila, grab a quick double cutting everyones grass - is forever increasing

IMO any given metro wharf approx 12hrs a day the water surrounded is littered with falling jigs - its up to your jig to have that 'edge'

EVERYBODY uses Yamashitas or Yozuris - Part of me likes to think i have the better jigs, but 95% of the time, the only difference i see is that i have egimax!!!

If you are lucky and have the whole spot to yourself - There is no competition, bag them all

But seriously squidding is becoming very popular, and i seldom see a wharf without someone squidding - IMO there is ALWAYS squid lurking beneath - The secret is in the Egi mood, and the anglers tricks
