Reggae Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can share some tips and spots to target John Dory in Sydney Harbour. I am yet to catch one of these fish. I usually drop in at Roseville or Little Manly and have a tinny so can travel. Any tips welcome. Cheers R
rjc123 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Your best bet is to catch a few yakkas. They are by far the best bait for dory. Also, trim their tails to make them easier for the dory to catch. Places like Balmoral, Spit and sailors bay are good starting points. Fish them either unweighted or under a float around the moorings. The by-catch is salmon and tailor at this time of year. Cheers, Tom
pure spirit Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 x2 for clipping the yakka tails, the smaller the yakka the better. Near the baths at balmoral has worked for me, couple years back smashed them at the basin but last year could not find a single one have not tried this year.
