Nambucca Heads Advice

Hi everyone,

Heading to Nambucca Heads next week. Got a few questions for anyone who knows the area:

1. Is the v wall the entire break wall or just a section of it?

2. Are there flat rocks on the break wall? I'm pretty unco so am worried about landing any possible catches!

3. Are there any particular spots (land based) I should try? I'm staying at the white albatross ..

1. Is the v wall the entire break wall or just a section of it?

Check out the pic below ......THere is the main breakwall that runs along the area where the pond is in the White Albatross (top left of pic) ...... there is there is a small beach, leading to the smaller breakwall at the mouth of the river (middle section) - you can see the breakwall in the middle right of the pic.

2. Are there flat rocks on the break wall? I'm pretty unco so am worried about landing any possible catches!

It is a pretty serious breakwall & whilst I DO climb down the rocks of the Forster breakwall - the 2 walls I DON'T climb down ...... are Nambucca & Yamba!! Most people fish the first area, just past the beach, where the 'white' carpark is (directly opposite The V wall Tavern.) You just need to retrieve quickly, to get your gear 'on the plane' or it may snag on the close in rocks.

3. Are there any particular spots (land based) I should try? I'm staying at the white albatross ..

There is a nice timber walkway that you should be able to fish from that starts just along from the bottom of the pic that would be good to fish on the high tide as it is built over the mangroves, also along the inside of the estuary in the pic, right along to the 'short' break wall on the 'beach' there.

I can recommend a meal at the Tavern, too!

Thanks Roberta .. You've been most helpful Now I'm just counting down the days until I go.. Can't wait. I'll definitely check out the tavern if I can also.. I'll have my puppy with me though, so will have to see. I only wish I could leave today!!!!
