tasksta
Hi all I am off next week to get married in Ireland and will be honeymooning in Africa. Can anyone recommend a fishing charter in Zanzibar? Some great websites but cant beat a recommendation. October will be YFT season and I hear they get solid GT's and dollies as well! cheers Paul P.S. She says I can buy a boat AFTER the wedding, should I remain hopeful?
Jewhunter
Good luck with the wedding mate. You will have a great time in Zanzibar. It is an incredibly interesting island. The seafood night markets down at the waterfront are not to be missed! I didn't fish there so can't give you any tips. If you get the chance head up to Malindi on the Kenyan coast. It has some of the best fishing on the planet. Cheers, Grant. ( p.s. good luck with the boat! )

alasdair
Sorry can't recommend a charter there, but going by the amount of big fish we saw when we went diving you shouldn't be disappointed. As Jewhunter says the night markets are the best. Also remember that plastic bags are banned and they may search you when you get off the ferry. If you are going to Uganda try a charter for Nile Perch at Jinja. A bit further south Namibia has some ridiculous fishing along the skeleton coast. Kob are jewfish on steroids. If you want any info on what to expect in any of the countries, not just fishing wise, send me a message, spent 3 months travelling Africa last year. ps . still waiting to get the boat.... It is located on the far north of the Island.Colin the owner is a mad South African fisherman who will try anything to find you fish. They do package deals as well.
