adkel53 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Today I had my first serious hit-out this spring targeting lizards in Botany Bay. Began fishing at 6.15 am and fished through the high tide and first of the run-out until around 12.00pm. Lots of casts with a range of plastics in a number of places resulted in nine lizards, only one being less than 45 cm and three smack on 50cm. Five of the fish came from an area that I had not fished before so was very pleased that my hunting skills came to the fore. Most of the fish were taken on Berkley Gulp jerkshads in the nuclear chicken and lime tiger colours. I've been a staunch user of Squidgies over the years but have had good success on these Berkley jerkhads and now find myself using them more frequently. Kel
mako2000 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Well done....time to leave Port Hacking and give the bay a try I think.
Bawley Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 gotta love the spring lizards.... noth inside and outside
adkel53 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 I backed up again today with a mate. The result was one undersized lizard between us! Had a visit from fisheries who reported that no one seemed to be catching fish today. What a difference a day (or three in this case) makes. Checked the barometric pressures. 1015 on Tuesday and 1009 today. Is that enough to make a difference?? Water temperatures similar and we fished the same tides. Hard to fathom and disappointing as it was our first outing together for about 5 months. Next time!! Kel
