Yowie Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Fished this morning from first light, trolled around Jibbon Pt for the 5 tailor, and dropped a couple more, before sun rise. Had enough for a feed so moved on. Headed south of the bombie for a flattie drift, only landed one for one bite, so moved further south to near Little Marley for the flounder and other flatties. A lot of time between bites, and dropped a couple as well. The good thing was NO JACKETS biting. Not big fish, but a couple of feeds in the fillets.
grandad Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Nice feed there I went yesterday, the trawlers were working off garie. got my flatty's off stanwell tops. fished the hump for an hour for nothing. Saw lots of surface action salmon everywhere the baitfish were only tiny at 10mm to 20mm. Don't have anything that small in my box. Grandad
f1shen Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Nice catch! What lures were the tailor hitting?

Grandad Even the small spiky flatties were scarce, maybe the trawlers scooped up more than a few. No surface action around me, kept looking out for some, but the gulls and gannets just flew past each time.
Yowie Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Nice catch! What lures were the tailor hitting? Was trolling with smaller pilchards on a 3 hook gang, no sinker so the pilchard skipped across the surface. Trolled in fairly close to Jibbon Pt. I think any lure would do the same trick.
