Jasoniumh Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Took my four year old fishing this morning down Mollymook Beach, he is not all that well at the moment so I thought I'd help him forget his woes. Caught the tide just at the outgoing. Wasn't long before our lines were being hit. My sons rod got a big whack and I told him to start reeling. He stood at the base of the rod with it still in its pvc holder winding like mad, after a bit he really started to struggle and gave me a look of "HELP!". His rod was going from slack to bent so I grabbed his hand over the reel and helped hi reel it in. As it got closer I had to take over much to the relief of my son, pulled the rod out and finished landing it. I picked up the Salmon to show him his great catch and he backed up real fast, he was a bit daunted by its size... I guess it was about 40-45cm. Didn't have the camera with us but here is one just after we got home with it minus its head. Anyway he loved the experience and ran into the house screaming "MOM I CAUGHT A BIG FISH!!!!". It was his first ever fish... not bad. I've had reports of big tailor being caught from the surrounding beaches.. going out again by myself this afternoon to give them a nudge.
