Kirst1583
Can someone please tell me what this is? I thought it was a bream, until I realised they don't normally have the stripes I caught it at Balmain today and also realised I've caught one previously at greenwell point

Depending on the location you catch them and the sub-species of bream, the colours vary between them. 0 Kirst1583
Ahh I see. I knew of black and yellowfin, although didn't realise some bream had stripes. Thanks now all I have to do is learn to differentiate between bream and tarwhine lol
0 Yowie
Some bream do have stripes, but not always as noticeable as that one. The bream has a pointier nose and mouth, whereas the tarwhine has a more rounded head and non pointy nose. Keep posting photos and some one will I.D. them for you if you don't know. But considering I knew absolutely nothing less than 2 years ago I guess it's not too bad! That makes a lot more sense about the shape difference between tarwhine and bream, thanks so far I think I've caught one tarwhine. Just gotta have a better look at all my pics now
