PRED-ATOR
Hi Raiders, While flicking for jews the other week, twice i tangled with what felt like a stingray. I couldnt land either as both just stuck to the bottom even after plucking the line. I thought i snagged up but something took drag then stopped just like a ray. Do they go for unscented SP's? I've landed a couple of Rays on sp's. Strange thing is that I have never hooked one in the mouth, always on the flap or somewhere else. Maybe they have swum over for a look & I've hopped it into them. Anyone else caught one in the mouth on a plastic? Cheers, Grant.

I think you may have had a numb ray (or electric ray) attack your lure. I was spinning a wobbler lure just off the bottom one day when a numb ray flashed up and grabbed the lure, and I felt the electric jolt up the rod and line. Getting the lure out of it's mouth was an electrifying time. Edited November 8, 2012 by yowie
rockfisherman
I've had num rays hit plastics several times, and I know I've hooked on to a good ray, but at over a metre wide the curado 200 e7 was never going to win, so I couldn't tell you if it was hooked in the mouth. Robofish
I was out with my dad flicking plastics at patonga and he hooked and landed the biggest shovel nose I have seen - that was hooked in the mouth. It was pretty funny, he was learning plastics and getting frustrated as he couldn't hit the flatties that I was and then I heard - 'yes I am into my first flatty!' I turned round to see his rod bent double and the clutch sounding. Like I said to him at the time - if this is a flatty then you will be getting your photo in the magazines. rjc123
I actually have hooked into a good size ray mouth hooked. Hooked him in the lip using a 5" jerkshad. Thats the only time i've ever mouth hooked one though. Still may have been a coincidence...
