wchh Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) Went to fish on Mona Vale beach yesterday for a couple of hours hoping for something big. started about 3:00 Pm and was it quite! Caught a salmon around 5:30pm. confidence level is higher for a better nightish session with the suppy of four strips of fresh slab bait. switched to the salmon fillets bait from 7:00 pm as the tide is now reasonably high. within 3 minutes, the first strip was taken by a meterish PJ that I found the fish is a bit unusual as the colour of the fish was sort of purple? Second strip bait was bitten off after 15 second into the fight. From the way the fish goes (cruising along the shore line in the gutter with fast, steady speed), it must be a small whaler. The 3rd bait was demolished by breams and the last bait was again bitten off. This time the bait was bitten from the middle with a bit left from both ends, no hook up. The leader was not badly damaged so that could have been the work from a fish I was after? Anyway, a good session of fishing packed with action and also left room for imagination. Charles.
