Measured - 134cm No scales but guessing 20 - 25kg What do u think - weight Don,t have anymore info - Just thought I would share this photo
brecko90 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 what a ripper!! where abouts was it caught? personally i dont think its dead but just been a little bit slow of late, fished it 2 weeks ago and got a few decent bream and flatties.
rjc123 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Nice fish I'd say 25kg would be a fair guess for a fish of that size. Cheers, Tom
mikeh191 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Well Done, Nice Jew to all involved.I bet he had a couple of good runs. Cheers Mike
brettmann86 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Hawkesbury is definately not dead alot of people have no clue how to fish the river, I'd call that around the 25kg mark for sure cracker fish!!
josamill Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I am one who doesn't know how to fish it. I've done well up and down the coast, off Sydney beaches, and off shore....but the Hawkesbury has me stumped. Anyway, your comments give me hope!
johnopaparoulas Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I Don't think over 20 I've seen them bigger than this not hitting the 25kg figures"
Testlab Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Dead, perhaps not, but it's a far cry from how it used to be. That is a cracker Jew. Would of been great fun.
rjc123 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) I Don't think over 20 I've seen them bigger than this not hitting the 25kg figures" According to this link, a jewfish of 135cm (1cm more than this) weighs 24.9kg on average. It is quite variable but looks every bit of 24-25kg to me... http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/saltwater/weigh Edited November 26, 2012 by mulloway man
Marcel Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) I agree with mulloway man Edited November 26, 2012 by Dutch oven
Scratchie Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Nice fish but I bet that was the only thing they caught!!! Resident Jew need to feed too!!!
brettmann86 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Wouldn't need to catch more than that it'd feed 3 families with breakfast left over!!again cracking fish!
Robinsoi Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 What a monster of a fish The little boy will have the tale to tell for the rest of his life. Congratulations! Thanks for sharing Ian
pdelux Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Just ask who much the little Boy weighs, they look about the same size!
port hacking addiction Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 U sure he didn just put hes boat in at the hawksbury and drove around to the harbour lol nice fish
tide'n'knots Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) that is a cracker of a fish no doubt about it - but 25kg??? 2.2lb to the kg makes it around 55lb - would say 30lb maybe 35lb would be a lot closer which means converted back into kg brings it in at around13 to 15kg. very nice fish just the same and congratulations to your mate ! pete. this one went 24lb or10.9kg sorry dont know how to rotate the pic. diesel Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 we could argue about the weight all we want, fact is nice fish,and if was caught in the hawkesbury even better.looks like a resident jew for sure (colours are darker) id"e say caught up around gunnderman onwards good to see there are still decent fish in the system,just got to fish the write times, been told you have 2 to 3 days a month when the tides are write and the traffic is at its least,reguardless your mate has nailed it cracker fish good work ps weighs around 17 to 19 :}
jenno64 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Best jew I've seen this spring! Congrats and well done on pulling a great fish from the big H!
ace Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Cracking fish every bit 20 -25 kgs I pulled a fish that went 128cm a few years back from the rail bridge and it weighed 25kgs so your mates fish has to be some where around that in my opinion great fish none the less well done to him
Dusky_Chaser Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 A well over 20 kg fish easy......for most a fish of a life time....love it
plankton Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) It isn't as brown as some of the fish in the river - not saying that I disagree with what the members have said but I think it would be darker if it was a resident fish. Without giving away your spot, how far from the mouth of Broken Bay was it caught. If you still have the head, take the otoliths out. The number of rings will show you how old it is. Here are some which show that the fish is two years old. The rings are hard to see but if you look closely they are on the edge of the one on the left. Edited November 27, 2012 by plankton
Ray R Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Great Jewie mate, top catch for you, Congrats..
Jamestown Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Looking at my records I got. 1 at 162 cm which weighed 27kg very lean fish. Another at 148 cm weighing 27kg and another at 149cm weighing 26kg. Your fish would be around the 15 to 18kg range well done mate
