josamill
Poor squid.....caught it Saturday and downrigged it for 3kms. Chucked it in the freezer, and couldn't resist hooking it up again tonight for a quick beach fish. What a beautiful night for beach fishing....very gentle swell, zero wind, high tide. Chucked the squid out 50m.......big double snell rig, star sinker, 30lb fluro......you know what I had in mind. This guy took the squid instead.....39cm, really nice fish. Wish I had some more squid.....would have definately bagged a jew.....definately......

I caught two flatheads and sadly I had to pack up @ 8:00 pm when the tide just reached the top. what can you do when you have to go to work on Monday! By the way, nice beach bream! Keflapod
Hey Josamill, That's a cracking bream mate. I couldn't help but notice it is quite a dark fish for the surf. Must be some weed beds nearby where it has been living for a while... It must have heard the squid splash down and came to investigate..
josamill
Caught on the sand, but close to rocks and kelp. Still can't fathom how it ingested two thirds of an arrow squid on 2 x 5/0 hooks.

Hungry buggers i guess
shak4g63
We landed a similar bream off the beach it swallowed two snelled 8/0 hooks with a squid head. Had us fooled for a sting ray, well done mate they are awesome eating. An underrated eating fish! elferoz777
I have a spot where I pull em in during summer and enjoy the fight. As mentioned above they are nice eating too!!
josamill
Wasn't a great feed. I could tell when I caught it it was in poor condition, opposite of plump. Skinny flanks. Bream in my top 3 to eat, but this guy was mushy.
