Yowie Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Fished the deep near Lilli Pilli early for the tailor, and released a trevally around the 45cm mark, but apart from a few little reddies, was rather quiet. Need a few inches of rain to colour the water, as it is quite clear. Headed to Mainbar to pump a few nippers in less than knee deep water. Hooked one up and caught a whiting, so stayed a while, wading in the water to catch 5 whiting. The biggest weighed 500 grams, was a rather chunky fish. Drifted the Lilli Pilli flats for one more whiting and the bream, the only 2 bites I had there. Not much to see on the flats apart from a large number of stingrays.

Yowie Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 yowie what do you recon of fishing bonnie vale landbased for whiting? Never tried it, but cannot see why it would not produce fish. There is a channel that runs up to The Basin, have caught a couple of whiting and bream in the channel before on a run-up tide with nippers as bait. Plenty around there if you have your own pump.

Chris, There are a few whiting around Lilli Pilli, there one day and hardly a one the next day, but squirt worms are a better bait at present when fishing there, or blood worm. Bought a few the other day, $2 each. Have seen a few bream in some of the deeper parts over the last month, most of them being just undersize. Dave.
