I decided to make my own sabiki rod (for use with bait jigs) after seeing a brief video on the net. 2m of old 3/4 inch electrical conduit, an old eggbeater reel, a couple of old hose clamps to hold the reel in place and some bits of hose to act as grips ...... and voila - sabiki rod. Works fine and cost $0 as I had all the stuff cluttering up the workshop where it had been for years.

A couple of tips. Make it too long and cut it back after trying it out. That way you'll be able to store the maximum number of jigs inside the rod. Don't put a cap on the bottom so that water can drain out when you clean it. Use rubber bands looped several times around the conduit to hold the sinkers and any hooks outside the conduit.

I have considered cutting the 6 hook jigs in half to make two 3 hook jigs so that all of the jig is inside the conduit but feel that more hooks in the water gets the baitfish excited.
