Correct pitch for prop

Hey guys just wondering how I select the correct prop for my motor I have a 93 mercury magnum 40hp the prop got a little bashed up on my last outing and I want to replace it and is there a lot of difference between a 4 or 3 blade?

Try the SEARCH function on forum, there's so many posts on props or call Huett Marine and he can sort you out with the correct prop.

Might be worth a chat with the guys from Solas, they sorted ours out beautifully.

Different size engine but i just went from a 3 to a 4 blade Solas aluminium prop. big difference in mid range but you loose some top end speed. boat will plane quicker with a 4 but you also need to make sure you reduce the prop pitch if going to a 4 blade. eg. if you have say a 15 pitch 3 blade the equivalent 4 blade would be a 13 pitch. props can be hit and miss so you might be best to try Huetts Marine so you can get the best solution for your boat.
