You mean mono or braid? Generally braid is much better on baitcasters. Depends what your using it for. Barra 20lb braid but if its for bass then 6-8lb.

Braid is definetly the way to go, but if you're using a baitcaster for the first time, spool it with some cheap mono, like 10lb and practice before you spool it with braid. I've got 20lb power pro on my baitcaster.

Braid is pretty much the way to go with everything now when it comes to spinning or baitcaster reels.

Only problem with putting braid on baitcasters is that it can become a very expensive habit if you get a few birds nests...

This one comes down to personal preference and application. As you would probably notice with alot of the american Bass anglers now going back to using fluorocarbon mainlines on their baitcasters to reduce the risk of pulled hooks. Baitcasters also give you the opportunity to use heavier fluorocarbon as well. What will you be using it for though peter?

Hi,

In my opinion using FC isnt such a bad idea. Bait caster rods are normally alot stiffer which equates to alot more pulled hooks when using braid (no shock absorbtion).

That being said, if your starting out go braid, its good for almost all applications. Dont worry too much about birds nests. If you're using a newer model bait caster, pretty much all of them have a cast control system which makes them fool proof. I find low profile bait casters are easier to cast without birds nests than traditional unless using heavier lures/baits.

What type of fishing are you going to be doing?

Cheers,

I run 12LB braid on my Curado BC. Mainly for squid, plastics for flattys and the odd rat king etc...

Hi.

I've tried Nylon 0n my baitcasters.

Problem is. with the smaller ones. You have no real line capacity.

Braid gives you the extra capacity for peace of mind. while holding stronger lane at same time.

Just have a bimini double on the end of.

And like Me. Carry several at same time. all leadered and lured to suit that day. Normally 3 or 4.

Otherwise just the one. and having the end loop with line strength to suit that reel.

Add whatever leader you need to suit that moments or type of fishing... 99% Barra up here. Then Barra as a backup.

Normally 30lb. with 50 and 80lb in the sticks (Read big trees) and 50 to 200lb leaders to suit.
