Decided to head out for a low tide fish at Como, pushed boat off trailer floated across shallow water till i was deep enough to drop engine.

Dropped engine next minute dead battery, doh only ran motor last Sunday no problem plus motor fully serviced.

Buy the time this all happened i paddled in to shore to the ramp but was too late got the lowest of all tides in Como.

Had an audience of may people watching and commenting but no one offered to help.

Thankfully after some time i remembered i had a spare car battery in the car so had to lug one battery out of boat across mud flats and one back.

Really hope council revamps the ramp.as it is in council at the moment fingers crossed i don't want to be in this situation again.

At least i could flick plastic while waiting.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune - but luckily, you had an ace up your sleeve!! Disappointing that people weren't more helpful. tease.gif

Shame that the incident occurred on the 'low-low' that you get following a 'king high' tide (always around Xmas & Easter time)! Definitely something to remember - as an area that you can get into on a 'king high tide' doesn't mean that you can get out again after it drops! wacko.gif It could have been worse - if you were upriver somewhere in a bay that became unpassable as the tide gets lower! 1yikes.gif

cheers

Roberta

It could just be a dodgy battery - a regular service wouldn't necessarily spot that it was about to chuck a wobbly! How old is it?

Happened to me 5 or so years ago, put in at high tide ( 1st time) returned at low and couldn’t get in. had the get the decky to drive to Tom Uglies bridge to pick me up...

Hay Nick, does bonnet bay go OK with your boat? I’ve looked at it but thought it would only suit smaller boats?

Cheers Luke

Hey plumb I used to launch our old boat there which was a smaller alloy ally craft ! But havnt launched my Barcrusher there I always use hole in the wall sylvania ! But if u had a 4wd that would be fine as low tide it gets very sandy

The plans in council attached look great for the upgrade to Como the sooner its done the better, the boat was fully serviced obviously they didn't check the battery though but the car battery work fine.

Not sure about the pull start cord one thing i never thought of, the annoying thing was i had planned it so that i was putting the boat out 2 hours before dead low so i could fish both sides of the low would have been back on high.

Fingers crossed the new ramp is done ASAP.
