Hi raiders,

Still over here in waikiki Hawaii, with my wife and three girls.

Awesome place, having a ball.

Went out on a local charter in search of some surface action. Trolled lures and a few hours into it I was on :).

After a decent battle I landed my first mahi mahi or as we know them Dollie. It went 26lb and about 1500 long. After that we didn't turn a reel, but that's fishing.conditions were terrible with gusty winds and big swells. I contributed a burly trail on a few occasions lol.

We had a local bar and grill cook it up for us and it was fantastic. Still here having a great time, weather is a little gloomy but still great.

I will post some pics when I return.

Cheers Daniel

Good to hear you got some action, I was there in may, went on a bottom bashing charter, but winds were up so we were confined to the Bay Area, it was still fun, caught up bunch of reef fish which they cooked on board, then got to Maui where I bought my self 2-4kg outfit, braid and some lures, casting off the beach in front of the resort between the swimmers, I was hooking up on what looked like grinners here in oz, I was told by locals little GTs 20-30cm frequent the area.

Hi fishingphase,

Yeah conditions on our charter where terrible. There has been this nor Easter blowing for the last week and a half at about 60 to 70 km/h, and rainy. Apparently the weather is not usually this bad around this time of year. I've noticed a few locals fishing if the high rocks and beachs. I wouldn't mind trying some beach fishing with lures. I've noticed some decent size fish swimming around whilst swimming with the kids, just hard to find the time with all the activities.

Hey dan

Great to hear your having a ball overthrew.

Was there in may, got married over there at kahala, there were a group of guys fishing around there, with some monster hauls, I hear that there is a great charter that goes out of north shore, I think halewia harbour. Do your self a favour take a drive mate good spots around there.

If not and your staying in Waikiki, get you and the family down to the YARDHOUSE bar, it's on Lewers ave behind the Sheraton Waikiki, it's awesome.

Have a great Xmas over there, it's like a second home to me......
