Captain Pugwash
Finally, finally, finally we caught a few fish today. After watching the cricket all night and thoroughly enjoying Michael Clarke's return to form, we got on the water about 11am. It was such a stunning day we went straight out through the heads looking for any bird activity. And there was none to speak of. So we headed up to Dee Why in about 30 metres of water where I had heard some snapper were gathered. Anchored up, berley bucket in, then in with the rods. But wasn't the current running? Had to go up to barrell sinkers 4" long just to try and get to the bottom! Didn't get any snapper but we were kept entertained by a variety including sargeant baker, trevally, sweep and a nice shark about 3 feet long. Eventually decided to have a drift where we got a few more sweep and then I hooked up to something pretty bloody big but it busted me off before I got a look at it. Time was against us so we headed back to Bluefish Point even though it has been dead as doornails recently. BUT, great news! The trevors are back in force. and nice size to them as well. We had a ball there for 30 minutes catching them and throwing them back. So, while Clarke would have liked a century and we would have liked a big Kingy, at least we are both back on the scoreboard and pretty bloody happy about it too. With the sun out, the sea as flat as a billiard table, the poms on the ropes in the cricket, the wallabies playing tonight and fresh trevally for dinner It just doesn't get much better than this. As George Costanza from Seinfield once said "Im back baby!!!!!!!!!!!" Cheers Pete
