kermadum Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Hey Raiders brains, I was thinking of heading down around Bondi for some fishing, I live around here and apart from some squidding have never bothered trying to fish, but I've got a bit of time off so thought I might try it. I've been enjoying a bit of blackfishing lately and thought I'd give that a shot. (If anyone has any suggestions for good spots I'd welcome them, but thats not why I'm writing this.) I know there is an intertidal protection zone around a lot of Bondi, but I can't find any info on the DPI website that tells me if that extends to the cabbage that I want to use for blackfishing. Does anyone know if that's protected? Naturally I don't want to be using it for bait if its protected. Any help would be awesome.
bharris Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Yes it dose.Cant take anything Sent from my GT-I9100T using Tapatalk 2
Guest hawkesbass Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Protected intertidal zones do not allow you too take invertebrates or crustaceans for the purpose of eating or using for bait the weed and cabbage will be fine too use for bait
Day's Fishin Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 When I lived at Bondi I fished Bondi Murk access via North Bondi golf course. When you get down to the ledge, keep going north for about 100meters you will find a little cove in the rocks fish there we used to catch some big blackfish there with the odd pig as a bonus. At that stage 60's you could take weed straight from the area, along with cunjevoi that the pigs love. Beware that you keep your eye on the sea conditions as you can get trapped there if the seas come up. Fish with a mate and cleats are a must. Regards Jeff
bharris Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Prittt sure you cant take any thing of the rocks for bait eather mate includes cabbage but check yhe dpi website if your unsure Sent from my GT-I9100T using Tapatalk 2
kermadum Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks guys. I've been over the website and it's not specific when it comes to plants. It lists crustaceans and invertebrates specifically, but no mention of the greenery. I'll give them a call when I get a chance, just thought someone on here may have come across this before.
luderick -angler Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Cabbage is fine for bait from the rocks its an algae it grows and re grows fast growth rate no sense protecting it. Thr only place I know you cannot gather it fro the rocks arounf Sydney is Long Reef there may be others just check DPI regs
