puregeek
So I was fishing in the bay today and the weirdest thing happened. Everytime I touched my reel I would get any electric shock. Friends thought it was quite funny at first until I got them to touch the rod and zapp! I'm thinking it had something to do with the storm building up. Didn't happen to anyone else's rod just mine. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Btw the rod is a shimano tcurve with a stradic .ci4.

benm
Yeah mate, happened to me a few times when a storm is close. Probably a sign to pack up and get cover.

Yowie
Have seen it happen when fishing Bate Bay at night with an approaching thunderstorm, sometimes the rod tips have glowed a bright purple colour with all the static electricity about in the air. Moved closer to shore and the purple colour almost disappeared from the rods. Could be a target for a lightning strike!
