Port Hacking

Fished Lilli Pilli deep from first light, not a bite for some time, not even yellowtail. Berleyed with crab shells and chopped pilchards and just the occasion little reddie started showing up. Eventually pulled out a tailor of 43cm, a red gurnard about 35cm and a flounder of 27cm.

Some of the pilchards were chewed off without feeling as bite. About sunrise, some yellowtail moved in, but they were attacking the big baits on the bottom. Caught a few for bait and put one out alive. It swam about for nearly 2 hours and not a touch. A nice colour in the water, nothing jumping except for a few pilchards chasing tiny fish. Very few boats about either.

Thanks for the report. At least it wasn't a zero you caught a taste of fish.

Did you try on the flats at all.

I hope to fish Lilli Pilli sat night depending on the weather.

Another tough going trip Dave,but still a few for a nice feed.

This time last year was definately better going.

I was thinking of fishing the hacking tomorrow, now i think i will drive to port.

At least you got out on the water..been nearly a month here ....everytime ive planned to go the weather has turned foul or somehting else has ruined my plans. Might try and get out after work tommorow if I can.

Did not fish the flats, but on the way home, I saw a couple of whiting and bream cruising the shallow water. The whiting had the prominent blue noses they sometimes get.

Thanks for the report Yowie, sounds like hard going to get a feed, hope to go out on the water next Wednesday ( feel a bit sick of work) Yet to decide Hacking or the Bay.
