Morgo85
Hi guys, Long time follower/reader of fishraider, however this is my first post. As the title suggests, I am looking to buy a new overhead combo for chasing mainly Jews and the odd kingy. I would mainly use it to rig up Livies and dead baits. Having only ever used spin gear, I thought I would post this asking for suggestions from fellow raiders. Thanks in advance! Matt
lostproperty
Just curious, is there a particular reason you want to use an overhead instead of a spin reel? There are plenty of spin reels more than capable of stopping Jews and kings, are you fishing from a boat or landbased?

pjbink
A lever drag might be more handy, so long as you are not going to do any casting with it. It's easier to let a kingie run a bit without getting a backlash (before striking), and easier to up the drag in a controlled way.
Morgo85
That's what I was thinking. I thought that it would be easier to feed out line with a leve drag overhead as well as easier to apply drag. I spose I just want a different setup as well as all my rods have spin reels. I will mainly be using this setup on a boat. Any suggestions for specific rods/reels? Thanks for all the replies so far! Matt
pjbink
You could look at the Shimano TLD 15, 20 or 25 (depending on line class). Or for something a bit more upmarket\ more robust, their Trynos series.

martymonsta
I've recently bought a Penn Squall lever drag which I plan to spool with 15kg mono for trolling and bottom bashing duties. Can be bought for around $100.
