Krispy !
After uni last friday i headed down to the hacking by train armed with a handline , a handful of hooks and sinkers and bread. Started burleying with abit of bread and was surprised to see two rat kings swimming through eating the bread. I sent out a small bit of bread, nothing for about 20 seconds and was thinking about rebaiting when i felt something take the bread, i struck and had the line almost ripped out of my hands, when i eventually got a proper hold and started to get line back the line went slack, upon closer inspection i found out that the hook was bent almost straight. After cursing a fair bit i got back into the action pulling up a nice variety of fish even though they were undersize. In an hour i caught bream, tarwhine, trevally, blackfish, striped trumpeter and one of those diamond shaped fish. I eventually landed a just legal bream which was sent back and then headed home. tumra
sounded like a good session mate. if you had a rod and egg beater you probably would have landed it as the drag would have kicked in. Good luck with it next time

Good luck with it next time Thanks mate Yeah i wish I had a rod but handline is more convenient when coming from uni, would have been a much better chance of landing it with a rod but it was only a small size 8 blackfish hook. Yowie
At least you managed a few fish for your time. The small kingies do take bread at times, even hooked a couple on the yellowtail handline, but never had enough line to stop them!
philfish61
Sounds like you had fun, I sometimes go there just to wet a line, I call it play fishing.
