Hi Raiders

Bit of a long one....

Plan was to hit the bay early and load up with live bait, head outside and chase some big kings. Was on the water by 6:30 and was meet by this beutiful sight.post-11636-0-89201200-1364095621_thumb.jpg

As we made our way across the bay we noticed hundereds of patches of bait fish just breaking the surface. As we neared our squidding destination, we decided to stop near the drums and see what it actually was that was spread out all over the bay. At fist we tried with some SP and hard bodies but nothing. So then out came the long shank hooks with a small piece of prawn and bang up comes mr Yakka. After a hand full of chopped pillies went over board the water was absolutely full of them.

My Brother in law continued to fill the bait tank while i burley. After a short while i decide to have a go with a small hand line, and quickly noticed a yellowtail swim past and not the yakka kind. As the words came out of my mouth to my bro i had a fat King on the end of my hand line, and this guy was fat. The battle didnt last long not due to the fish but the line got caught around my cup holder, and the rest is history.

Anyway rigged up a livey on my 6ft wilson and okuma bait runner with 20lb mono, set the bait ruuner and continued to catch bait.

Not even a few moments later the sound of a screaming reel breaks the silence, a few moments to run then STRIKE and i load up on what feels like a good king. This guy had some pull and with ever bit of line i managed he took five times back. I finally got him boat side and straight into the net. Woohooooo!!

I was confident that he would just be legal, but i was wrong, 64 on the nose, but very fat and heavy. So Happy and disapointed at the same time a quik snap and back in till next time.post-11636-0-50687400-1364097005_thumb.jpg

We decided to head outside and look for some bigger ones, a decision im thinking may have been the wrong one. We got ouside and the seas were quite bumpy. We sounded around and found a few small showings, so dropped over a few yakkas but nothing showed up. So back inside to the same spot we got the yakkas and tried with the yakkas there and a few other marks, but zero.

Conditions were great but the sounder was quite bare. The quest for the big king was slowly slipping away. I wish i could finish this post by saying we ended up with a monster hoodie but sorry guys wasnt meant to be. We even tried a spot thats been producing a good number of bream lately but we only managed just the one, three 40cm flatties and a trevally.

With the day getting away we headed back to the ramp with at least a feed. We did speak to a couple of guys who showed us their bucket full of bream, worms did the damage. I cant wait to get back out there im still buzzing from that last king encounter.

Tight Lines Guys

Cheers Daniel

hey Dan, see that you're putting some effort into them kings now =). Keep at it and sooner or later it'll pay off!

we managed to get out today as well and so did the rest of Sydney, boats everywhere! haven't been out on a weekend for a while and I remembered why this morning at the ramp =)

we did end up getting onto a few kings between 70-80cm, so wasn't too bad. Hopefully I'll bump into you on the water one of these days hehe
