Port Macquarie Help?

Heading up there for a longweekend soon and need some advice on good spots?Staying a block from the river and have the use of a boat but will mainly be land- based due to .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

p.s Last time i went up we took the early exit and went past Lake Cathie??? (not sure if thats what it's called). It looked really inviting. has anyone fished it?

Lake Cathie is a nice spot. The lake contains bream, flathead, mullet and tailor - but nothing of staggering size.

The entrance of the lake is usually closed so maybe this keeps the sizes down?

The beach there is more interesting and good for jewfish. The usual suspects are also available when in season.
