hi raiders. had the chance to go with my mate mick dennis steve and basil yesterday on board the riviera 'seadeuce'. with the forecast of winds up to 30-40knots we were expecting a very rough day. left the marina around 6am. headed south around bondi beach. the wind and swell was ok. swell was less than 1m, wind around 5-10knots. water temp around 21C. caught a couple of keeper flattys, plenty of throwbacks. plenty of jackets and toads biting our line. lost plenty of tackle. after a couple of hours decided to head to long reef. got to longy around 10am...drifted around for a while and not much happening. caught plenty of rubbish fish like toads sweep sargents jackets etc etc. we decided to use the sargents for bait. we were using pillys squid prawns for bait. i decided to use the sargents for bait and at around 1230pm. i was getting plenty of nibbles and all of a sudden my rod started to load up and my reel started to scream. i was on. started to wind my reel and i felt head shakes and i knew something big is at the end of my line. after a couple of minutes we can see some color. i was stoked. in my mind, is this the jew i was targeting? my mate steve grab the net and after a couple of minutes, this thing was on the deck. high fives all round. and i felt like i won the lotto. after close inspections from the experts (mick and steve), i was told it was a trag...i was a bit disappointed...after about 10mins...the boat owner dennis was on something big but lost it on the way up...he re rig again and he was on again, this time, he landed his 1st teraglin too. similar size to the one i caught. high fives all round again. at around 130pm the wind started to blow and the swell was picking up...decided to head home...it was rough and bumpy and we were travelling -4knots all the way in...got back to the marina around 3pm...it was the best day for me so far...thank you very much mick and dennis..

Similar ways to cook jewie, there are many ways.

Might be just able to fit in the oven whole (minus head and tail) though will take some time.

Probably better to fillet, cut across the fillet into several pieces, and pan fry, adding whatever you fancy to flavour it - herbs, spices, lemon juice, etc.

Have also baked the fillets in a tray in the oven, with only lime juice and splash of wine added, which does not add too much to the flavour of the fish.

Always good to have you out for a fish mate....the banter & the "Gee Ups" on the deck are always a great laugh!!!

The fishing was abit slow at first but we made up for it!!! Looking forward to our next trip outpost-6612-0-98319000-1368017688_thumb.jpgpost-6612-0-98319000-1368017688_thumb.jpg
