chewie Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 had a top day today. out from rose bay at 6.30. after hearing reports of spawning squid from grouper and jenno we forwent livies and headed straight out. first squid in the tank went straight out for kings. I had a newbie on board and after the catch a squid catch a king (rats) routine wore off we went for a feed of big female squid which are stacked up along the coast now. managed 9 big air craft carriers for dinner. Then went wider and use the wind to look for flatties, (one of my favourite fishing techniques). managed 5 nice keepers to 57cm all on plastics. would have been a raider record if my mate was a member! also saw a free swimming marlin while flattie fishing wide. tried to chase but was gone by the time we were ready! doh!..
jenno64 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Sounds like a great day Chewie! You can't beat salt n pepper calamari followed by beer battered flatty fillets (unless your cholesterol is up)
